Program Notes:

Atlantic Opalescence I is a work for solo scordatura cello depicting the sea polishing a shell and depositing it on a beach. The work follows the shell being thrown by the ocean currents and rubbed by the sand while a melody is gradually teased out, representing the polished shell. The ocean currents then return to close the piece as they slowly die out and deposit the shell on a beach somewhere along the Atlantic Ocean.
